Welcome to The Very Busy Kindergarten Classroom Blog. My name is Sue and I am a first grade teacher.
I started to teach first grade in 1995 and then switched schools to teach kindergarten in 2002. In 2013, I decided it was time to go back to first grade; I was too old to teach kindergarten. I guess you can say I just love to teach the little ones.
I started this blog in 2011 as a place to document the ideas that I was doing in my classroom and share with other teachers.
I am obsessed with children's literature. I enjoy finding stories that relate to all content areas. I take great pride in finding stories that my students never heard before. This is a challenge because many of my students have teachers for moms and grandmas. Each day I feel I try to make a difference in my students as they make connections to the learning around them.
A lot of the ideas I share on my blog come from the books, workshops, and blogs I read. However the best ideas I get come from the collaboration I share with the other teachers at my school. I try to take the great ideas I see and work them into the exit expectations of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee where I teach.
